– Horses for Life Equine Education for Secondary Students program
On 26 February,
a special clinic was held for the students in the Horses for Life
Equine Education program for Secondary Students. This program
offers certificates in Riding and Horse Management, as well as
the Foundation Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning. Carlos introduced
a dozen of the students to his absolutely gentle approach to working
with horses, concentrating on getting the horse to focus and listen
through understanding, not force.
The clinic ended with Carlos demonstrating the ultimate in communication
– riding only with a rope around his horse's neck.
Carlos' new book, Through the Eyes of the Horse is now part
of the required reading for the Program and participants were eager
to get a signed copy.
Lots of new friends were made...
...that will be renewed at the next get-together.
It was clear
that horses – and humans – were understanding each other's
good intentions.
Eager to learn as much as they could, no one really wanted to leave!
